| 台灣因移民社會型態之歷史發展背景，傳統民間信仰盛行，尤其作為聚落 |
| 信仰核心之廟宇文化更是豐富，是台灣特有之重要文化資產。 |
| 廟宇的興建與發展皆源於信眾自發的捐獻支持，香火鼎盛的廟宇常以華麗 |
| 雕刻彩繪裝飾、甚至擴建、改建，來表彰信眾對神明的虔誠信仰，而此卻造成 |
| 保存舊有廟宇建築文化資產的問題。 |
| 尤其，近年因社會富裕發展，許多尚未能列入古蹟保存法規保護而又具傳 |
| 統文化價值的廟宇，舊廟改建新廟現象屢見發生，不僅大量具價值的建築構件 |
| 遭拆除破壞命運，又新廟建築因經濟考量常採現代工法，更是造成傳統匠師技 |
| 術流失的要因，形成了台灣廟宇文化資產保存的危機。 |
| 同時國內古蹟、歷史建築及文物保存修護領域起步較慢，全國各地文化局、 |
| 美術館、博物館等機構大多缺乏專業文化資產保存管理、修護之人員，台灣各 |
| 處古蹟、歷史建築或老建築的保存與修護工作，普遍未被重視與理解，相關學 |
科與系所亦於近年才相繼成立，人才培訓工作更有待積極推展。 |
| 因此，本計畫邀請國內外保存修護專業單位及專家、匠師，舉辦「廟宇建築 |
| 緊急保存國際研討會與工作坊」，進行專題演講以及實務操作之培訓，引進及 |
| 介紹傳統廟宇建築保存修護所需之跨領域知識及技術，以增進國內傳統廟宇建 |
| 築保存修護專業知能；建立傳統廟宇建築緊急搶救之方法與技術，以因應現今 |
| 及未來文化資產緊急修護處理之需求；協助國內相關從業人員提升傳統廟宇建 |
| 築保存修護以及緊急搶救的能力並增進工作職能。同時增進台灣與國際間，在 |
| 文化資產保存領域之交流。 |

| Taiwanese temple as the religious center of a settlement is the crucial cultural heritage, because it embodies abundant local culture of an immigrant society. The construction of temple originates the autonomous supports and donations of people, so that the prosperous temple is always decorated splendidly, and even rebuilt to express the piety for the gods. |
| This results the crisis of the preservation of temple cultural heritage. Moreover, the growth of the economics also results lots of historical temples without the protection of the law of cultural heritage destroyed and replaced by the new. Lots of valued architectural members and arts are destroyed. |
Besides, new temples are always rebuilt according to modern construction methods for the economical considerations; it also makes the great loss of traditional craftsmanship, which makes the serious crisis of the cultural heritage preservation in Taiwan. |
Besides, the restoration of historical building started to develop in a much later time, the cultural institutions、museums、construction companies are short of those restoration practitioners and experts. The work of restorations of historical architecture also is not understood and properly acknowledged, the related academics or departments are established only in the recent years. The training for the practitioners and experts for restoration is needed to be actively popularized. |
Therefore, this project is to invite international and domestic scholars and experts in the field of preservation to hold “the international symposium and workshop on temple restoration and reconstruction”. The purposes are to introduce the interdisciplinary knowledge and techniques of temple restoration to enhance this professional capacities； to establish the methods and techniques of the emergency preservation of traditional temple architecture for the needs of the first-aids of cultural heritage；to assist the professionals to promote their abilities on working the temple restoration and its emergency preservation；finally to enhance the international communications on the field of cultural heritage preservations. |
